In the fall of 2017, a group of musicians connected with their dear friend, Craig Jewell, to celebrate his 10 year anniversary 10 year anniversary as the owner and talent buyer at the Wild Buffalo House of Music in Bellingham. Together with Craig they performed a live show at the venue commemorating the music that brought them together over the years. One day after their anniversary show, Tom Petty passed away.
These friends realized their shared love and respect for Tom's music, as well as the formative influence it had on their development as musicians, and wanted to honor Tom's immense legacy. Petty or Not has never pretended to be or mimic Tom Petty, but rather honor his unparalleled lyricism, vast collaborations, and culturally driving melodies. As local musicians, teachers, and producers, the members of Petty or Not consistently strive to update their repertoire based on audience requests and favorites, newfound favorite songs from Tom's catalog, and surprising compilations, including music from Fleetwood Mac. What began as a one off commemoration show, the band's popularity has since demanded more and has played at Downtown Sounds for over five thousand people, Summer Meltdown Festival, and are now available to perform at clubs, casinos, weddings, private events, or anywhere that wants to party to some good ol' American Rock 'N' Roll. Petty or Not, here they come! |
